Technical Surveillance Countermeasures
Theft of information can be more damaging to a business than the loss of property. Loss to competitors of valuable research data, marketing plans, knowledge of take-overs and mergers could mean the difference between success and failure of important projects. Loss of information to terrorists and other criminal elements regarding the future intentions and security of VIP's can be disastrous. The ANVIL Group is a specialist in the field of detecting sophisticated eavesdropping devices whether or not they are actually operating at the time of inspection.
The ANVIL Group has been conducting Technical Surveillance Countermeasure Inspections (TSCMI's) for over fifteen years, and optimises this experience by consistently completing assignments in a discreet, professional and efficient manner.
The electronic search equipment used by The ANVIL Group is of the highest quality and detects the presence of both active and passive surveillance devices. New developments are continuously reviewed to upgrade all equipment used. We can provide a schedule of the equipment currently used on request.
All members of The ANVIL Group's inspection team have been chosen because of their previous experience and have been referenced and their backgrounds checked. The current team has carried out numerous TSCMI's and is fully conversant with the latest techniques and technology employed in the field of electronic countermeasures.
The ANVIL Group holds full legal liability insurance in respect of personal injury and/or damage to property to the standards laid down by the Security Industry Association (SIA).
A standard TSCMI will incorporate the following procedures:
- A radio spectrum search using a radio spectrum processor and associated antenna systems to detect active illegal radio and video transmitters. Any WiFi networks found operating at the time of the search are also evaluated at this stage.
- A non-linear junction detector search of the structure and furniture within the designated areas to detect eavesdropping devices that are passive (not working) at the time of the inspection.
- A physical and electronic inspection of all electrical wiring, power outlets, light switches, electronic equipment and cable runs using specialised electronic equipment and cable testers. All electrical items inspected are sealed with "tamper evident seals" where appropriate.
- A physical and electronic inspection of all telecommunications equipment, including main distribution frame (MDF), floor distribution points and individual telephone sockets. All cable runs are tested using a time domain Reflectometer and BT approved test equipment. The telephone instruments and telephone sockets are sealed with "tamper evident seals" where possible.
- A physical security review of the selected areas to highlight any potential breach of office or document security.
