Job Summary

The Director of Intelligence and Security Operations is a full time, salaried position based out of Anvil’s Tampa, FL office. The Director will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the US Risk Intelligence and Security Operations Teams. This will include administrative duties along with training and developing the US Risk Analysts and Operations Security Managers. The Director will also assist the Sales Team in strengthening client relationships by delivering intelligence and operational support and consultation, understanding and management of intelligence and operational services, and giving Anvil’s clients a clear understanding of the services we provide on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities and Duties


Risk Intelligence


  • Act as line manager to the US Risk Analysts, responsible for the day to day running of the team
  • Conduct biweekly one on one meetings with all direct reports, focusing on training new and current analysts for career progression within the department
  • Take ownership of monitoring errors and performance of US Risk Analysts and ensure results are fed back to TRIS administrator
  • Identify any emerging trends or upcoming events which could impact Anvil’s clients
  • In support of the Head of Risk Intelligence and UK Senior Analyst, provide an out of hours contact capability for other analysts
  • Participate in the monthly Country and City Risk Level Meetings


Security Operations


Operational Tasks:

  • Act as line manager to the US Operations Security Managers, responsible for the day to day running of the team
  • Conduct biweekly one on one meetings with all direct reports, focusing on training new and current staff for career progression within the department
  • Management of all of Anvil US’s strategic operational security services, including, but not limited to:
    • Journey management – secure car and meet and greet services
    • Close protection or security facilitation
    • Assist with crisis response
    • Risk, threat, and vulnerability assessments
    • Evacuation support
    • TSCMI
    • Assist with surveillance and counter surveillance
  • Manage the coordination of vetted security suppliers to carry out security services globally
  • Ensure that best practices are carried out in line with the Anvil terms, conditions, and SOPs laid out for the specific service
  • Be proactive and keep abreast of, and brief management on, global security issues or developing security situations issues that may impact Anvil’s clients
  • Provide informed opinions and objective analysis for resolution of a situation or advise means to support client safety and security

Security Assistance:

  • Be prepared to provide timely advice and operational assistance for Anvil Assist security cases, to be carried out with the support of other assistance and operational staff
  • Within an operational team, swiftly put security assistance into place to support Anvil clients’ requirements and act as a coordinator for those support services
  • In conjunction with their team members, provide pro-active and real-time advice to clients where any incident or situation might impact them


Qualifications and Skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to security and/or intelligence
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant operational background providing security and/or intelligence services, preferably within a military, diplomatic, or law enforcement agency that is specialized in close protection operations in hostile or high threat environments
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret common business, technical, financial, and legal documents
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials, including intelligence products
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and occasional overnight travel
  • The ability to work alone or as part of a team in an often pressure intense environment where deadlines and priorities change constantly
  • The ability to think laterally and objectively, avoiding assumptions, while remaining unbiased throughout
  • Strong constitution to be able to deal with researching often harrowing worldwide events yet remaining culturally and politically sensitive at all times
  • Keen attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy and getting the job right first time


  • Master’s Degree in a field related to security and/or intelligence
