Overview of  Role

Working as part of a multi- professional clinical team, you will provide clear leadership in the delivery of a professional, first class medical assistance service to our corporate clients. This will involve exceptional wrap around healthcare management of all medical assistance cases globally for our blue chip corporate clients – from pre-deployment screening and clearance to travel, initial diagnosis and local treatment to repatriation and post-travel care.

This is a permanent, office based position, either full or part time, providing 24/7 medical support on a rota basis. Suitable for doctors who either wish to combine part time working in the NHS with a career in global medical assistance or those who wish to gain experience outside the NHS, develop new skills and work at the interface of Information Technology and Healthcare.

You will encounter all aspects of international medical assistance and healthcare scenarios. Supported by our Chief Medical Officer, as well as our network of senior clinicians; you will form part of a strong clinical team.

 

Key Accountabilities

• Reporting to Head of International Assistance with oversight  from our Chief Medical Officer for clinical governance and medical care

• Responsibility for medical case management  and  medical advice in person, by telephone, in writing or face to face via a live secure electronic platform

• Liaise with treating Doctors, Nurses, Therapists, with patients, their families, clients and insurance  companies

• Assess medical reports from live clinical cases in all parts of the world, obtaining logistical, medical and collateral information supporting wrap around care

• Organise and supervise appropriate medical care, obtain medical reports, ensure appropriate specialist referrals and advice

• Assess the medical and logistical aspects of evacuations and repatriation

• Supervision of clinical team

• Service development and delivery

• Support sales and finance departments in the delivery of tender responses

• Support and help deliver CQC accreditation

 

Skills and Qualifications

• Current registration with the GMC

• Minimum of 6 years post registration experience

• General Practice or Specialist Medical Qualification

• Advanced Life Support Certificate

• Excellent written and spoken English

• Bilingual – desirable

• Experience of medical assistance or air ambulance work – desirable
